A Wolfe County deputy has been shot while struggling with a suspect.
Kentucky State Police said that Deputy Jacob Holland made contact Wednesday afternoon with an armed 26-year-old Christopher Whisman, of Campton, at his residence on Bear Pen Road, just outside of Campton.
Whisman fled on foot from the deputy, but Holland caught the suspect, with a struggle over the deputy’s gun ensuing. It was during the struggle that Holland was shot by his own gun.
He was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Whisman was arrested by Kentucky State Police and lodged in Three Forks Regional Jail where he’s been charged with first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer.
