Over 100 new COVID cases in Grayson Co. since Saturday. 119 counties in the ‘red,’ 28 counties with alarmingly high rates of occurrence.

Grayson County is among dozens of Kentucky counties that experienced explosive growth in COVID-19 cases over the weekend.

According to the Kentucky Department for Public Health, Grayson County reported a combined 103 new COVID cases on Saturday (49), Sunday (27) and Monday (27), raising the county’s incident rate to 97.8, nearly four times the threshold to be considered a “red” county, indicating a “critical spread” of the virus.

Currently, 119 of Kentucky’s 120 counties are experiencing a “critical spread” of the virus, with bordering Hardin (93.7), Breckinridge (96.3), Ohio (98.2), Butler (81), and Hart (57) counties with skyrocketing incident rates.

Edmonson County, with an incident rate of 36.4, qualifying the county as in the “red,” has the lowest rate of occurrence in the area.

There are 28 Kentucky counties with incident rates above 100 — Graves (115), Marshall (138.3), Union (146), Webster (120.3), McLean (100.9), Warren (109.3), Allen (123.3), LaRue (141.9), Nelson (105.4),Taylor (137.5), Spencer (101.1), Carroll (118.3), McCreary (106.1), Estill (124.6), Jackson (158.6), Laurel (154.6), Whitley (162.7), Knox (119.3), Bell (161.3), Fleming (106.8), Clay (219.7), Owsley (148.8), Wolfe (133.2), Lee (125.4), Perry (143.1), Magoffin (191.5), Floyd (143.3), and Pike (104.9).
