
Gov. Andy Beshear on Tuesday announced 4,548 new COVID-19 cases, the tenth highest number of cases reported in a single day since the beginning of the pandemic.
Of the new cases, 1,407 (30.9 percent) were children 18-years-old and younger.
The new cases increase the total number of cases diagnosed in Kentucky to 577,051.
Beshear announced 23 new deaths, raising the state’s death toll to 7,764 (1.4 percent fatality rate).
Officials said 2,274 people were hospitalized, up 76 patients from Monday. There were 617 patients in intensive care, up two since Monday, and 406 people were on a ventilator, up 22 from Monday.
The positivity rate was 13.66 percent, up from Monday’s 13.45 percent.
