Grayson County’s Jackson Mayes, Landon Skees qualify for KHSAA state golf tournament; Lady Cougars finish 4th in Region

Grayson County High School will send a pair of golfers to next month’s KHSAA state tournament in Bowling Green.

Freshman Jackson Mayes and sophomore Landon Skees will represent the Cougars in the competition that will be held at Bowling Green CC.

The two qualified after participating in the 5th Region tournament at Oxmoor CC on Tuesday. Mayes fired a 78 to finish tied for 3rd overall while Skees finished just one shot back with a 79 which was good for an 8th place finish.

On Monday, the Lady Cougar golf team also competed at Oxmoor and turned in a 4th place overall finish. They were led by sophomore Natalie Garrett (95), senior Sophia Elmore (96), senior Anna McKinney (104), and Bailie Duggins (104).

The KHSAA boys golf tournament will be held from October 7-9 at Bowling Green CC.
