Man opens fire at Shepherdsville park, injuring 7, including 2 infants

A Bullitt County man has been arrested after injuring seven people, including two infants in a shooting at a Shepherdsville park Wednesday night.

Shepherdsville police responded to the shooting at approximately 7:00 Wednesday night and found that 41-year-old Amit Anthony opened fire at Frank E. Simon Park on West 4th Street. Seven people suffered gunshot wounds, including two babies younger than one-year-old, according to the latest report by the Lexington Herald-Leader.

One person was injured by flying shrapnel after Anthony fired a round into concrete.

An investigation identified Anthony as the shooter. He was arrested several hours later at his residence on Gibraltar Drive.

He was charged with first-degree assault and seven counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and lodged in the Bullitt County Detention Center.
