Three people have been arrested after going on a crime spree in Grayson and Breckinridge counties and leading police on a high-speed chase before crashing on the Western Kentucky Parkway and fleeing on foot.

Saturday morning at approximately 2:00, the Leitchfield Police Department was dispatched to the 100 block of Cave Mill Road after a resident reported seeing someone breaking into a vehicle.

Multiple officers arrived in the area but did not to make immediate contact with the suspect’s vehicle, a white Hyundai. Officers and Grayson County deputies scoured the area for about 15 minutes before observing the Hyundai on Brandenburg Road.

The Hyundai, which had been stolen out of Vine Grove, fled police at a high rate of speed on North Main and South Main Streets before entering eastbound WK Parkway.

At the 111-mile marker of the parkway, the vehicle struck a Leitchfield police officer’s cruiser, resulting in the four occupants immediately abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot. The vehicle was left in gear and rolled through the median and westbound lanes and onto an embankment.

Two of the four suspects were captured near the scene, as a manhunt for the two remaining male suspects got underway.

The Clarkson Police Department, Grayson County deputies and Grayson County constable scoured the Clarkson area for the suspects and at approximately 2:50 a.m. observed one of the men at the dead end of Spring Street (the road ends at a business). The suspect fled into the darkness, with police searching for the male suspect for over an hour without success.

The two suspects caught immediately after the end of the chase were the driver of the Hyundai, 21-year-old Kiara S. Cain, of Louisville, and 24-year-old Alexsis R. Russell, also of Louisville.

One of the two male suspects, 21-year-old Momo Kpehe, of Louisville, was caught Saturday morning in the Clarkson area by Kentucky State Police and the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office.

During an inventory of the Hyundai and a stolen Ford passenger car that was recovered at a Leitchfield convenience store, police seized five stolen handguns, one suspected stolen handgun, multiple stolen credit and social security cards, along with several stolen IDs. Additionally, a stolen hunting bow was recovered along with multiple stolen cell phones, personal items and cash.

Cain was charged with first-degree assault of a police officer, receiving stolen property (automobile, more than $10,000), two counts of receiving stolen property (firearm), and first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle).

Russell was charged with two counts of receiving stolen property (automobile more than $10,000, firearm), theft by unlawful taking (automobile, more than $10,000), and second-degree fleeing or evading police.

Kpehe was charged with two counts of receiving stolen property (automobile, over $10,000), two counts of receiving stolen property (firearms), two counts of theft by unlawful taking (firearm), and second-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot).

Kpehe also has arrest warrants out of Meade and Barren counties for engaging in organized crime, four counts of theft by unlawful taking (automobile, firearm), fraudulent use of a credit card, theft of identity, and third-degree criminal mischief.

All three suspects were lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

The fourth suspect, a male, has been identified and charges are pending, police said.

The Leitchfield Police Department would like to stress to residents to lock one’s vehicles when unattended, as these suspects are accused of accessing unlocked vehicles in Grayson and several other counties.
