An eastern Kentucky middle school teacher has been found guilty in federal court of producing child pornography and cyberstalking a student.

Former Letcher County Middle School teacher Charles Evans Hall, 48, of Jackson, “persuaded a child to set up a secret Snapchat account; he then manipulated the child into creating and transmitting sexually explicit pictures and videos over a seven-month period,” according to prosecutors.

Authorities added that Hall used physical molestation to compel the 14-year-old girl to produce additional images.

Hall was arrested by Kentucky State Police in late November 2018. While incarcerated, he had his cellmate communicate with an unnamed co-conspirator (outside of the jail) to continue the cyberstalking campaign against the child … using Facebook, Hall told the victim to make another statement to law enforcement clearing him of the charges.

He faces up to 35 years in prison and will be formally sentenced on February 22.

In addition to teaching at Letcher County Middle School, Hall also taught at Letcher County Alternative School. He was additionally an assistant football coach at Letcher Central High School.
