Gov. Andy Beshear on Tuesday reported 1,493 new COVID-19 cases and 25 deaths.
Of the new cases, 421 (28.2 percent) are children 18-years-old and younger. The new cases increase the total number of cases in Kentucky to 738,190.
The 25 new deaths raise the state’s death toll to 9,665 (1.3 percent fatality rate).
The positivity rate is 5.66 percent, down from Monday’s 5.84 percent.
Officials said 893 people are hospitalized, down 26 from Monday, with 266 patients in ICUs, down 15 from Monday. There are 148 people on ventilators, down nine from Monday.
Grayson County’s incident rate was 48.1 on Tuesday, the same as Monday and the ninth highest in Kentucky and the highest rate of occurrence in western Kentucky.
With the exception of two counties, Hardin (26.7 incident rate) and Ohio (25.6), the counties bordering Grayson County all have incident rates below the “critical spread” of the virus threshold, according to the Kentucky Department for Public Health.
Furthermore, Grayson County’s 48.1 rate of occurrence is more than twice the state average of 23.98.
