
James David (J.D.) Elmore, age 83, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Wednesday, ( January 26, 2022) at his residence, with his family and friends by his side.
J.D. was born on July 10, 1938, in Grayson County, KY in the hollow of Conoloway Creek. He was the son of the late Deolie (Doll) Elmore and Oma Decker Elmore Crain.
He was a real estate broker, appraiser, and co-owner of Key Associates Real Estate. He married Alfreda Powell Elmore on September 19, 1962. They were married for 59 years and raised three children. He cherished his church, Antioch General Baptist, his family, and studying the Bible. He loved spending time on the farm where he could tend to his garden and orchard. He was an avid mushroom hunter and collector of many things. J.D. was a kind, giving man, who had an unwavering love for Christ.
J.D. is survived by his beloved wife, Alfreda Powell Elmore of Leitchfield; a son David Keith Elmore of Leitchfield; two daughters, Michelle Galloway (Thomas) and Kelli Miller (Jason), both of Breckinridge County; a brother, A. D. Elmore (Brenda) of Clarkson; grandchildren, Leslie Elmore, Cameron Elmore, Mason Galloway, Anthony Powell, Alex and Corey England, Tessa and Jesse Filback, Karli Powell and Tyler Mullins, Hannah and Josue Guanipa, Nehemiah Williams, Zachery and Rachel Miller, Levi Miller, Samuel Clemons and Paisley Polston; great-grandchildren, Abram, Brookstin, Joshua, Aiden, Lexi, Addi, Audree, and Averi.
Other family members are Jennifer Harvey, Danny McCormick, Tony Powell, Patrick Clemons, Connie Elmore, Leslie Spears, Micah Spears and Quendon Spears, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Other than her/his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rheuelma Newton; his brother, Howard Elmore; half-brothers, Orville and Hallie Elmore; half-sisters, Harriet Thorton and Rheuelma Beever; special cousins, more like brothers, Lee Elmore, Norman Elmore and Jimmy Elmore; and two additional cousins, Iona Denmark and Maxine Minton.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, (February 4, 2022) at the Antioch General Baptist Church. Bro. Gary Embry will be officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home until time to leave for the church.
