A Leitchfield man wanted on an indictment warrant charging him with a half-dozen crimes was captured Sunday by the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office after fleeing deputies on foot.
Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins said that on Sunday, deputies received information on the whereabouts of 55-year-old Michael England, who had an indictment warrant for first-degree stalking, third-degree terroristic threatening, third-degree criminal mischief, public intoxication (excludes alcohol), and second-degree disorderly conduct.
Sunday afternoon at approximately 2:30, Grayson County Deputies Nick Pruitt and Erik Franklin responded to the 800 block of Stinson Road (off Sadler Road), with England fleeing out the back door of a residence and into a wooded area.
While being chased on foot by Pruitt and Franklin, England “stopped running but placed his hand inside his jacket and told the deputies to ‘just shoot me,’” Chaffins said. He also ignored commands from the deputies to show his hands as he advanced on Pruitt and Franklin.
A taser was deployed but was ineffective, as England again began fleeing on foot. After a short distance though, Pruitt caught England and placed him into custody.
The suspect soon began complaining of chest pains, police said. He was transported by EMS to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center for treatment. He was later released and lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
England was additionally charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), resisting arrest, menacing, and alcohol intoxication in a public place.
