Caneyville Elem. takes first place at District Governor’s Cup. Other local schools perform well.

Caneyville and Clarkson Elementary Schools Academic Teams did exceedingly well at the recent District Governor’s Cup competition as the schools won first and second place respectively. Other county elementary schools were also well represented at the competition.

Caneyville captured first place overall, as well as in Quick Recall and Future Problem Solving, while Clarkson came in second place in all categories.

There were multiple winners from across the district in individual assessment categories. They include:

Mathematics: First place Trinity Thompson (Clarkson); Second place Jane Bohannon (Caneyville); third place Jessy Smith (Clarkson); fourth place Gunner Bratcher (Caneyville); fifth place Kaylee Jaggers (Wilkey).

Science: First place tie between Trinity Clemons (Caneyville) and Jace Moore (Clarkson); third place Keilan Hayes ( Lawler); fourth place Hayden Hodges (Clarkson); fifth place Lillian Pruneda (Caneyville).

Social Studies: First place Jocey Stinnett (Wilkey); second place Landry Crowder (Clarkson); third place Jaxen Williams (Clarkson); fourth place Lucy Mudd (Lawler); fifth place Brennon Burns (Wilkey).

Language Arts: First place Jane Bohannon (Caneyville); second place tie between Landry Crowder and Trinity Clemons (both Caneyville); fourth place Skylah Plant (Clarkson); fifth place Hope Lewis (Clarkson).

Arts & Humanities: First place Jessy Smith (Caneyville); second place tie between Gabby Stevenson (Lawler) and Lillian Pruneda (Caneyville); fourth place Madeline Holwager (Clarkson); fifth place Brennon Burns (Wilkey).

Composition: First place Charli Johnston (Clarkson); second place Leah Helvey (Lawler); third place Kady Cook (Clarkson); fourth place Braylee Webb (Wilkey); fifth place Gabby Stevenson (Lawler).
