An elderly Leitchfield man has been killed in a single-vehicle accident just west of Short Creek.
Monday afternoon at approximately 1:30, Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins and Chief Deputy Jarrod Mudd, the Leitchfield and Falls of Rough Fire Departments, and EMS responded to the accident in the 11200 block of Owensboro Road (Hwy 54).
Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found an older model Toyota pickup truck, being driven west by 81-year-old Charles “Hawkeye” Stevenson, had been pulling a trailer carrying several wood panels and other wood materials.
It appears the trailer began to swerve as the truck rounded a curve, police said, causing Stevenson to lose control. The truck left the roadway and flipped onto its side. Stevenson was tossed from the vehicle.
He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Grayson County Coroner’s Office.
