Grayson County High School alum Tyler Woosley has won the USA Indoor Archery National Championship in barebow.
Woosley, a 2021 graduate of GCHS, is currently a member of the University of the Cumberland’s archery team.
Competing in his first ever national championship, the Leitchfield native shattered a school-record en route to a 953 point performance, winning the event by seven points.
Woosley became the Patriots’ first ever freshman to medal in the barebow event, let alone finish in first-place.
While a member of the Cougar archery team, he finished as the region runner-up and qualified for the KHSAA state tournament. In the NASP state tournament, he was the fourth-highest scorer in the state.
Woosley’s older sister, Rachel, also competed in archery in college at Campbellsville University. There, she won the Basic Bow Division Gold Medal which serves as a national championship in the sport.
Next on the docket for the Patriot archery team will be the outdoor season with the USA Outdoor Regionals taking place April 13-15 at the Cumberland’s.
