Man accused of killing mother of his child, kidnapping 2-year-old son arrested

The man accused of killing the mother of his child and then kidnapping their toddler has been arrested in Louisville.

Louisville police arrested 32-year-old Christopher Gordon, of Louisville, on Thursday afternoon. He was taken into the custody in the 7800 block of Bramble Lane in Pleasure Ridge Park.

He was charged with shooting and killing 38-year-old Angelica James, of Louisville, on the afternoon of February 27 in the 4100 block of Quiet Way in the Newburg neighborhood of Louisville. He also allegedly shot her 10-year-old son in the hand and hip. Gordon fled the scene with his and James’ two-year-old son.

An AMBER ALERT was issued for the toddler but it was cancelled after the little boy was found safe a couple of hours after being taken.

In addition to domestic violence murder, Gordon was charged with first-degree assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

Gordon’s history of violence

  • In November 2020, he was convicted of hitting and throwing James to the ground before taking her car. He was sentenced to two years of supervised probation.
  • In January 2019, Gordon was found guilty of assaulting another woman after entering her home by kicking in her door. He then dragged the woman, who was 32 weeks pregnant, into her car and began driving, all while punching the woman.While driving, he began choking the victim, who managed to free herself and jump from the moving vehicle. He was given two years probation.
  • In 2009, Gordon, then 19, was convicted of reckless homicide after fatally shooting a 17-year-old, allegedly in a fight over a moped. He was sentenced to five years in prison.
