Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC) is offering scholarship opportunities for dual credit students for the fall 2022 semester.

Students who have taken dual credit classes in high school have already lowered the cost of a college education. Now a new opportunity at ECTC will make earning their degree even more affordable.

ECTC is introducing its new DC to Degree Scholarship. The college began accepting applications for fall 2022 scholarships on Tuesday.

“With convenient campuses across the region, small class sizes and highly qualified faculty who truly care about students, ECTC has so much to offer college freshmen. The new DC to Degree Scholarship is another way we can provide the best value to new high school graduates,” ECTC Chief Academic Officer Darrin Powell said.

2022 high school graduates who completed at least one dual credit class as high school seniors are eligible. Students may have completed dual credit at any Kentucky Community and Technical College System college, but priority will be given to ECTC dual credit students.

Applicants must have a 3.0 high school and dual credit GPA.

Scholarship applicants must first complete ECTC’s free admissions application and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). After financial aid and other tuition assistance such as the Federal Pell Grant and the Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES) are applied, the DC to Degree Scholarship will cover up to $1,000 in remaining tuition for one semester. Family income is not considered.

The new scholarship is especially helpful to students who are entering programs that are not eligible for the Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship, ECTC Dean of Business Affairs Joe Mattingly said. This includes ECTC students completing the first two years of a bachelor’s degree before transferring to a four-year college or university.

“Our goal is to make ECTC’s tuition — the lowest in the state — even lower and to see more dual credit students finish the degrees they started in high school,” Mattingly said.

Funding for the DC to Degree Scholarship is limited and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. To apply, students should visit elizabethtown.kctcs.edu/DCtoDegree.
