A man arrested on a DUI charge has been nabbed with nearly a dozen grams of methamphetamine upon entering the Grayson County Detention Center.

Thursday morning at approximately 2:15, Leitchfield Police Department Sgt. Keith Harrell observed a vehicle driving erratically in the 700 block of West White Oak Street (Hwy 62). Harrell executed a traffic stop and upon making contact with the driver, 29-year-old Jacob T. Small, of Owensboro, the sergeant determined Small was likely under the influence of a substance.

He was given a field sobriety test and arrested. During a search of his vehicle by Harrell and LPD Officer DJ Newton, they located marijuana and drug paraphernalia, including baggies and scales, police said.

As Small was being booked into the Grayson County Detention Center, authorities discovered he had meticulously hidden approximately 11 grams of methamphetamine on his person.

Small was subsequently charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and first-degree promoting contraband in addition to the DUI, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia charges.

He is no longer listed as an inmate at the facility.

According to online records, between March 2011 and the present, Small has been arrested approximately 20 times on numerous drug trafficking, theft, burglary, and drug possession charges. All of his arrests except two have taken place in Daviess County.
