A Brownsville woman charged for her role in the riot at the U.S. Capitol on January 6 has agreed to a plea deal.
Reva Vincent, 57, was charged on February 14 with parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building, according to U.S Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. The charge is a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in prison and a fine of no more than $5,000.
Vincent was arrested on March 8 and pled guilty to the charge on April 22.
Under the plea agreement, Vincent is ordered to pay $500 in restitution, according to court documents. But, the court is not bound to follow the plea agreement and could impose a more serious sentence.
Vincent’s formal sentencing hearing is scheduled for August 2 in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C.
Federal court documents indicate Vincent and her husband, who has not been charged, drove several people to Washington D.C. on January 5 “to protest Congress’ certification of the Electoral College.”
On the afternoon of January 6, and after attending the “Stop the Steal” rally at the Ellipse, Vincent returned to the Capitol and climbed the stairs into a restricted area of the Capitol near the East Rotunda door, prosecutors said.
In a video recorded by Vincent, an unknown voice says the door is open, with Vincent then yelling, “Go, go, go.” She additionally said, “That’s our house. Leave our house,” and “Stop the steal.”
Court documents state that Vincent entered the Capitol building at 3:01 p.m., and said, “In the door. We’re in the door.”
She continued, “We made it inside,” and “This is our house, not their house.”
Upon seeing police entering the building, Vincent said, “Uh, oh, they’re in trouble,” and “Leave our house, we’re done with them,” according to court documents.
Vincent left the interior of the Capitol building through the Rotunda door after approximately five minutes.
