Jeffrey Dale Kurbis, age 62, was welcomed into the arms of his Savior on Sunday, May 8, 2022.

Jeff was born to Larry Bradford and Shirley (Blackburn) on October 21,1959 in Springfield, TN. He was later adopted by Norman Kurbis when Norman and Shirley were married. He was baptized into Christ and confirmed in the faith at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

He attended Michigan Lutheran High School in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He went on to Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota, to complete his training to serve as a Lutheran School teacher. It was also in college where he met and, after graduation, married Mary Elisabeth (Bauer).

Jeff served his Savior teaching in schools for over 40 years in Apache Land in Arizona, Western Washington, and Kentucky. He loved to teach. He had a passion for coaching. And he never tired in helping others in the schools and churches where he served.

The grand plan was to move to the beautiful, rural country of Western Kentucky to be centrally located to their five kids and ten grandchildren. From here they could more easily visit and host their children and grandchildren in their new country home. And for every second that the Lord provided, the family cherished this time together. And yet, in wisdom and love that never fails, the Lord had different plans that are for our eternal good. Look no farther than the marred cross and
empty tomb of Jesus that provided forgiveness and eternal peace.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Mary (Bauer) Kurbis; daughter, Faith (Mike) Gnewuch; daughter Leah Kurbis; son Caleb (Sarah) Kurbis; son Philip (Shanna) Kurbis; and son Daniel (Valerie) Kurbis; and his ten grandchildren Libby, Micah, Madelyn, Andrew, Jonah, Elias, Gavin, Cora, Maelyn, and Paige.

Jeff loved to witness about Jesus wherever he served. Memorials may be sent in Jeff’s memory to support the mission and ministry at Faith Lutheran Church, 377 E Lincoln Trail Blvd. Radcliff, KY 40160.

The Christian Funeral Service will take place at Faith Lutheran Church in Radcliff, KY on Saturday, May 14, 2:00pm – 3:00pm (Eastern Time) with a light dinner to follow. The family will welcome guests before and after the service.

Jeff’s confirmation verse will always ring true: “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of all who believe” (Romans 1:16).
