All state office building flags have been ordered to half-staff in honor of the victims of the Uvalde, Texas, school shooting.

“In accordance with a proclamation from the White House, Gov. Andy Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff until sunset on Saturday, May 28, in honor and remembrance of the victims of the acts of violence perpetrated in Uvalde, Texas,” state officials said in a press release.

Beshear encourages individuals, businesses and organizations throughout the commonwealth to join in the tribute.

On Tuesday, 18-year-old gunman Salvador Ramos entered Robb Elementary School and shot and killed 19 students and two teachers. Prior to the school shooting, Ramos is accused of killing his grandmother.

At least 17 people at the school suffered injuries.

Uvalde, a town of about 16,000 residents, is 84 miles west of San Antonio and 54 miles east of U.S.-Mexico border. It is most known for being the hometown of Oscar winning actor Matthew McConaughey.

The shooting marked the 27th school shooting this year in the U.S.
