The Twin Lakes National Fiddler Championship returns to Leitchfield this weekend for the 11th time.
Events kick off on Friday evening with the Loud Stereo Contest at the Veterans Memorial Park at 4:00 p.m.
Just up the hill from there, the Leitchfield Aquatic Center will be open late for a front-row seat for the annual fireworks that will commence near Grayson County Middle School at dusk.
On the square Friday, a rod run and cruise-in will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the Grayson County Bluegrass Opry playing at the Old Judicial Building at 6:00.
Saturday morning, the day begins with a pancake breakfast hosted by the Leitchfield Fire Department at their location on South Main Street. The first plate will be served at 6:00 a.m. and run until 10:00 a.m.
An antique car show will take over the square beginning at 10:00 a.m and run until 2:00 p.m.
Free activities for children will begin at 2:00 p.m. and run until dusk.
All of that goes without mentioning the fiddle contest happening on the big stage all day alongside a plentiful supply of food and craft vendors. The contest itself begins at 9:00 a.m.
To wrap up the night, the band Firewater Junction, which features Leitchfield native Matt Flake on the fiddle, will hit the stage at 8:00 p.m. Originally, the Cleverlys were scheduled to play, but a member of the band is having emergency surgery on Thursday, so they will be unable to attend.
Both Friday and Saturday will feature free admission to the festival and attendees are encouraged to bring chairs to watch the competition.
