One person has died and another was injured in a Harrison County plane crash.
The crash occurred Wednesday afternoon at approximately 5:30 at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Airport in north central Kentucky.
Two people were on the single-engine aircraft, a man and woman, when it crashed at the east end of the runway. The female was pronounced deceased at a local hospital. The male was transported to a hospital with serious injuries to his lower extremities, according to FoxLexington.com.
The names of the people involved in the accident have not been released by authorities.
Debris was scattered over a 30 to 40 yard radius after the plane dove into the ground.
Investigators said the preliminary investigation shows that weather may have played a role in the crash. Both the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
