Barren Co. non-compliant sex offender convicted of first-degree rape leads police on 3 county chase

A non-compliant sex offender from Park City is facing over 25 charges after trying to strike an officer’s cruiser and leading police on a three county chase.

According to the Glasgow Police Department, on Thursday, an officer observed a vehicle traveling on Park Avenue, a densely residential neighborhood, recklessly and at a high rate of speed. The officer attempted to execute a traffic stop but the vehicle, being driven by 40-year-old Brandon S. Shaw, continued to flee down multiple city streets before coming to a sudden stop, police said.

After stopping, Shaw “placed the vehicle in reverse and begin to travel at (the officer) at a high rate of speed attempting to strike the police cruiser,” according to police. Shaw failed to strike the vehicle and sped off again, traveling into Metcalfe County where he entered the Louie B. Nunn Parkway eastbound.

Once on the parkway, Kentucky State Police deployed spike strips but the vehicle continued on before coming to a stop in Adair County.

During a search of Shaw’s vehicle, police located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Shaw was arrested and charged with eight counts of first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, two counts of first-degree attempted assault of a police officer, first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), resisting arrest, first-degree criminal mischief, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, DUI (aggravating circumstances), failure to comply with the sex offender registry (at least his second such offense), speeding 26 mph or more over the speed limit, reckless driving, no operator’s license, two counts of disregarding a stop sign, two counts of failure to or improper signal, failure to maintain insurance, failure to give right of way to emergency vehicle, failure to give oncoming vehicle half of highway, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was additionally served with two arrest warrants.

Shaw was convicted in Barren County on a first-degree rape charge. He was released from prison in 2015.

A passenger in Shaw’s vehicle, Pamela M. Stinnett, 50, of Glasgow, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia.
