The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released a preliminary report on the death earlier this month of a Hardin County woman at Samuels Field in Bardstown.

Feleshia Denham, 37, of Glendale, was killed on the afternoon of August 7 when she exited a Diamond Aircraft DA-40 while the propeller was still operating.

The pilot told investigators that he and the passengers decided after landing that the passengers could change seats, according to the Associated Press. The pilot parked and opened the canopy while the engine was still operating, the NTSB said.

While the pilot was in the process of shutting down the engine, Denham left the plane and walked into the propeller.

Nelson County Coroner Field Houghlin told the AP that the passengers were changing seats so the back seat passenger could get a better view on the trip back to Elizabethtown.

Denham was the wife of Chris Denham, a popular law enforcement figure in Elizabethtown due to his oftentimes humorous posts on the Elizabethtown Police Department’s social media accounts.
