A Leitchfield man is facing multiple charges, including assault, after fighting with a Leitchfield officer.
Thursday morning at approximately 2:35, Leitchfield Police Officer DJ Newton arrived at a residence in the 300 block of Thomas Street to serve an arrest warrant on 36-year-old Edwin Tyler Duff.
Upon arriving at the residence, the suspect ran from Newton. When Newton caught him, Duff fought with the officer, resulting in Newton tasing the suspect.
Duff briefly experienced a medical emergency, with EMS then dispatched to the scene. The suspect regained his faculties within minutes though, and walked to the ambulance with assistance from medical personnel and law enforcement.
He was transported to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center by EMS for evaluation where he was medically cleared. He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center where he was charged with third-degree assault of a police officer, resisting arrest and fleeing or evading police (on foot). Duff was also served with a warrant from another county.
Assisting at the scene were Leitchfield PD Officer Tamara Jupin and Grayson County Deputies Nick Pruitt and Wally Ritter.
