The FBI on Monday morning began searching a Nelson County farm related to the disappearance of Crystal Rogers, the agency said in a social media post.

Agents, with the scene secured by the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, searched the farm at 345 Paschall Ballard Lane. The property is owned by the Houck family, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.

Brooks Houck, Rogers’ live-in boyfriend at the time of her disappearance, is the only suspect police have publicly named in the case.

The search is expected to last several days, the newspaper reports.

Rogers, a 35-year-old mother of five, disappeared on July 3, 2015. Her abandoned Chevrolet Impala, with a flat tire, was found on the Bluegrass Parkway in Nelson County with her personal belongings inside.

In August 2021, FBI agents utilized cadaver dogs, drones, and ground scanners while searching several areas in the Woodlawn Springs subdivision, Supervisory Special Agent Tim Beam said at the time.

“Based on information collected over the last year by the federal investigation into the disappearance of Rogers, FBI Louisville is now conducting several searches in the Woodlawn Springs subdivision,” the FBI said during the 2021 search.

The impetus behind the search of Woodlawn Springs: Houck was building homes in the subdivision at the time of Rogers’ disappearance.

In August 2020, just as the FBI took control of the case, more than 150 federal and state law enforcement officers searched nearly 10 locations in and around Bardstown, including Houck’s residence and motor vehicles.

The FBI has created a website, crystalrogerstaskforce.com, to serve as the official source of information from law enforcement. A $25,000 reward is being offered in the case.

On November 19, 2016, Rogers’ father, Tommy Ballard, who was actively searching for who was responsible for his daughter’s disappearance, was shot and killed as he hunted on the family’s property near the Bluegrass Parkway. His murder remains unsolved.
