An Elizabethtown chiropractor has been sentenced following his conviction on a rape charge.
Matthew Colasani, 34, was sentenced on Tuesday to five years in prison, according to a report by The News-Enterprise. He was found guilty of third-degree rape in late August.
The Hardin County Commonwealth’s Attorney tried Colasanti on a first-degree rape count but the jury found him guilty of the lesser third-degree rape charge.
On Tuesday, the newspaper reports, Colasanti also pled guilty to a third-degree sexual abuse charge in a separate but similar case. He faces 90 days in jail on that charge.
Colasanti was accused of fondling and raping an underage relative in late November 2020 after offering to perform a back adjustment. After being raped, the victim ran out of the room “until another adult employee came into the office so she could leave,” the newspaper reported.
A second victim, a 16-year-old girl, accused Colasanti of touching her in an inappropriate manner on several visits between April 2020 and June 2020. She said Colasanti would rub her buttocks underneath her clothing and touch her on other areas of her body as he treated her for upper back pain. He was originally charged with first-degree sexual abuse in that case.
Colasanti owned Colasanti Chiropractic.
