A “suspicious” fire has destroyed a Grindstone Road home.
Sunday night at approximately 10:40, the Wax and Clarkson Fire Departments responded to the blaze in the 3000 block of Grindstone Road.
According to Clarkson Fire Chief Andy Cain, the fire was not reported for up to 30 minutes after it began, as when firefighters arrived the roof had collapsed while the ground floor of the wood-frame home was collapsing into the basement.
Firefighters then successfully worked to keep the fire from spreading into a nearby wooded area.
The residence, which was empty, was a total loss.
Cain added that the fire was “suspicious” in nature.
No injuries were reported and firefighters cleared the scene well after midnight.
