15-year-old charged in shooting death of 17-year-old in LaRue Co.

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in LaRue County for shooting and killing a 17-year-old male.

Kentucky State Police and the Hodgenville Police Department investigated the shooting which occurred Saturday morning just before 5:00 at 116 East Forrest Avenue in Hodgenville.

State police said the preliminary investigation revealed that the 17-year-old and 15-year-old were in an altercation when the 15-year-old shot the 17-year-old.

The victim was transported to University of Louisville Hospital where he later died.

Police charged the 15-year-old with the victim’s death, police said. He was lodged in the Adair County Juvenile Detention Center. Further charges could be forthcoming.

The victim’s body will be transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville for an autopsy.

The investigation is ongoing and being led by KSP Det. Joey Beasley.
