A child has died in a tree-cutting accident in Hardin County.

Hardin County Sheriff John Ward confirmed to WAVE3.com that a six-year-old child was killed in the accident on Sunday in Cecilia. Ward told the television station that the accident was “very tragic.”

The Hardin County Coroner’s Office has opened a death investigation.

The child’s death comes only a few weeks after a tree trimmer, 46-year-old Joseph “Joey” Manire, of Crofton, was killed in Owensboro after partially falling into a wood chipper. Manire had become entangled in Christmas lights prior to falling in the November 28 accident.
