A Leitchfield man who absconded from pre-trial diversion after committing crimes of violence is now facing felony drug charges.

On Monday morning at approximately 3:30, Leitchfield Police Department Sgt. DJ Newton and Officer Ty Whitaker arrested 31-year-old Tyler J. Cundiff on a Hardin County arrest warrant charging him with a probation violation for a felony offense.

According to the Kentucky Department of Corrections, Cundiff absconded from pre-trial diversion in Hardin County on charges including second-degree strangulation, fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) and third-degree terroristic threatening. The crimes were committed in October 2019.

While being transported to the Grayson County Detention Center (GCDC), Cundiff told police that he was “in possession of digital scales and a headphone case that he had relocated to his waistband,” according to the arrest citation.

While being searched upon arrival at the detention center, the digital scales and headphone case were removed from his person, with police finding methamphetamine and a methamphetamine pipe in the case.

During a strip search of Cundiff, a GCDC deputy jailer located a baggie containing methamphetamine, the citation states.

In addition to the warrant, Cundiff was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), promoting contraband and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He remains lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
