Samuel Walton Morris II, age 72, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Friday, (January 27, 2023) at Owensboro Health in Owensboro, KY.

He was born on August 13, 1950 in Guthrie, KY, the son of the late Johnnie Wallace and Ethel Mae Warren Morris.

A Veteran of the US Air Force, Samuel was a teacher who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing poker. He was a member of the Leitchfield Christian Church, the Caneyville Masonic Lodge, the UAW and was named to the Who’s Who Among American Teachers.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Alfredia Watkins Morris; a son, Samuel Walton Morris III (Sandy) of Clarkson; five grandchildren, Victoria, Courtney, Porchia (John), Jonathon & Robbie; three great-grandchildren, Bentley, Carson & Kelieigh; a brother-in-law and friend, Ed Rusty Watkins of Leitchfield; four brothers, Gilmore Morris of Denton, TX, George Robert Morris of Falls of Rough, KY, Rodney Dale Morris of Leitchfield, & Malcom Warren Morris of Shepherdsville, KY; three sisters, Barbara Larimore of Shepherdsville, KY, Geraldine Perkins of Lexington, KY & Vivian Ann Baker of Maine. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Thomas Morris.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. CST on Wednesday, (February 1, 2023) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Arland Benningfield will be officiating. Burial will be in Highlands Memory Gardens in Mount Washington, KY.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. CST on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. CST Wednesday until time of services.

Samuel’s service will be streamed live on Dermitt Funeral Home’s Facebook page for those friends and family who are unable to attend the service in person.
