The identities of the two men involved in a fatal shooting in Short Creek on Thursday have been released.

Thursday morning at approximately 10:35, the sheriff’s office, KSP, Falls of Rough Fire Department and EMS responded to the 100 block of Keith’s Crossing on the report of a shooting.

As K105 previously reported, upon arriving at the scene, police found that neighbors had been in an argument over a dog when one of the men, 46-year-old Benjamin Vibbert, of Short Creek, brandished a knife. The other man involved in the argument, 42-year-old Michael Baker, also of Short Creek, then shot Vibbert in the head, according to a person familiar with the incident.

Vibbert was pronounced deceased at the scene by Grayson County Coroner Joe Brad Hudson.

Baker, after shooting Vibbert, took the firearm, a .45 caliber handgun, back inside his residence and waited for police, the source told K105.

Kentucky State Police said in a press release on Friday that “the case will later be turned over to (a) Grayson County Grand Jury” for its consideration.
