Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC) is now accepting applications for the DC to Degree Scholarship.

Graduating 2023 high school seniors who have taken dual credit classes through Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) are eligible.

Dual credit students earn college credit through scholarships and discounted tuition, significantly lowering the cost of earning a college degree. After high school, those students can make ECTC’s tuition — already the lowest in Kentucky — even more affordable with the DC to Degree Scholarship.

“We want to be the first choice for dual credit students ready to complete an associate degree, whether that’s an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science that will transfer seamlessly to a four-year university, or an Associate of Applied Science that will get them ready for a high-demand career,” ECTC Chief Academic Officer Darrin Powell said.

Scholarship applicants may have completed dual credit at any KCTCS college, but priority will be given to ECTC dual credit students. Applicants must have a 3.0 high school and dual credit GPA.

Students must first complete ECTC’s free admissions application and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). After financial aid and other tuition assistance such as the Federal Pell Grant and the Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES) are applied, the DC to Degree Scholarship will cover up to $1,000 in remaining tuition for the 2023-24 academic year. Family income is not considered.

The Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship covers full tuition for many ECTC programs including those in healthcare, advanced manufacturing and business and IT. With that in mind, the DC to Degree Scholarship may be most helpful to students taking general education classes, taking prerequisites for a selective admission program like nursing, or entering culinary arts, agriculture, interdisciplinary early childhood education, criminal justice or human services programs.

“Our goal is to help more families make college affordable, and DC to Degree is a great resource for students who want to finish what they started at ECTC,” said ECTC Director of Student Financial Aid Michael Barlow.

Funding for the DC to Degree Scholarship is limited and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. To apply, students should visit elizabethtown.kctcs.edu/DCtoDegree.
