A man has been arrested following a deadly workplace shooting in Shepherdsville.
The Shepherdsville Police Department responded Monday night at approximately 9:30 to Gordon Food Service distribution center in the 300 block of Gordon Industrial Drive on the report of a shooting.
Upon arriving at the scene, police found 24-year-old Charles E. Puckett Jr., in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to University of Louisville Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Another shooting victim, who has not been identified, was also transported to University of Louisville Hospital. He is in critical condition.
The accused shooter, 28-year-old Corey Rowland, of Louisville, who fled the scene, was arrested by Louisville Metro Police less than 30 minutes after the shooting.
While being interviewed, Rowland told police he left work early but stayed in his vehicle in the parking lot and shot “Chuck” 17 times, according to WAVE3.com. He said he shot the other man because he was friends with “Chuck.”
Rowland, who was charged with murder, first-degree assault and first-degree wanton endangerment, was lodged in the Bullitt County Detention Center on a $1.5 million cash bond.
Rowland and the two shooting victims were employed by a third-party company that supplements the distribution center’s workforce.
