A Bowling Geen man has been charged with murder and arson after a Monday morning fire.

According to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at a fire at 678 Penns Chapel Road, about five miles northeast of Bowling Green. Once the fire was extinguished, a male, Wendell L. Reynolds Jr., was found deceased.

“The autopsy results identified injuries inconsistent with an exposure to fire as the cause of death,” the sheriff’s office said.

The ensuing investigation led police to 28-year-old Sean A. Birge. During an interview conducted in Clarksville, Tennessee, Birge confessed to killing Reynolds.

Birge was arrested and lodged at the Montgomery County (TN) Jail where he awaits extradition to Warren County. He has been charged with murder, arson, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse.
