An eastern Kentucky boy has died following a freak accident involving a basketball goal.
Eight-year-old Eli Hill, of Corbin, died Monday when he retrieved something to stand so he could dunk a basketball, according to multiple media reports. While in the process of trying to dunk the ball, the backboard came off and a pole struck the boy in the chest.
He was rushed to University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.
