A Barren County man is facing several charges after police discovered drugs while investigating a domestic dispute.

The Cave City Police Department responded Wednesday to a domestic disturbance in the 200 block of Mammoth Cave Street, according to a report by WCLU.com. A male involved in the dispute, Randy L. Sturgeon, 40, of Cave City, fled the scene prior to police arriving.

Officers, though, found the suspect hiding behind a nearby home. He was taken into custody where he threatened both police and EMS personnel.

During a search of Sturgeon, who was behaving erratically, officers found fentanyl and cocaine.

He was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, third-degree terroristic threatening, public intoxication (excludes alcohol), and resisting arrest.

After being medically cleared, Sturgeon was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center but was released Thursday afternoon after posting a $2,500 unsecured bond, according to the jail website.
