A Brownsville man arrested two years ago for raping a 13-year-old girl at a bowling alley is facing multiple charges related to several recent break-ins and vandalism of businesses in Edmonson and Warren counties.
Jess Andrew Mason, 23, was arrested early Sunday morning by the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office, Brownsville Police Department and Smiths Grove Police Department.
He was, according to the Hart County Jail website, charged with third-degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking and first-degree criminal mischief (the website says the arresting agency related to those charges is the Hart County Sheriff’s Office). He was charged by the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office with first-degree criminal mischief.
Mason also faces charges in Warren County for first- and second-degree criminal mischief and second-degree burglary.
The respective police jurisdictions could bring more charges against Mason, as the investigation is ongoing.
He remains lodged in the Hart County Jail.
In April 2021, Mason was arrested in Warren County after admitting to committing sexual acts with a 13-year-old girl in the bathroom of a bowling alley, according to media reports from two years ago. He also sent photos of a sexual nature to the teen and received sexually explicit images of the victim.
Police said at the time that Mason was aware of the girl’s age.
In that case, in addition to the second-degree rape charge, Mason was charged with second-degree sodomy, unlawful transaction with a minor (illegal sex act), and prohibited use of an electronic device to procure a minor for sex.
At the time of his arrest in April 2021, he was listed as living in Bowling Green. It’s unclear if the 2021 charges in Warren County have been adjudicated.
