Two Owensboro men have been arrested for rolling back odometers at a used car dealership.

The Owensboro Police Department said “Operation Rollback” resulted in the arrest of the owner of Discount Motors, 63-year-old Eddie Howard, and salesman, 60-year-old Donald Adams.

Police were initially tipped that odometers were being rolled back at the dealership in February.

Officers with the Owensboro PD Traffic Unit opened an investigation and after gathering evidence and witness statements, “federal and state partners were contacted for assistance and consultation for their expertise on these matters,” the Owensboro PD said in a press release.

Law enforcement raided the business last week and seized over 100 Oxycodone pills, $350,000 in cash, three firearms, two cars, and electronic devices used to perpetrate the rollback fraud.

Officials said they believe rolling back odometers has taken place at the dealership since 2019 and involves an unknown number of victims.

Both suspects were charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, 20 counts of tampering with a motor vehicle odometer and prescription controlled substance not in its proper container. The drug trafficking charge is enhanced to the presence of firearms.

They were lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center but are no longer listed as inmates.
