
A vehicle traveling on I-65 near Cave City was struck by lightning.
The Cave City Fire Department said that on Monday night at approximately 7:15, firefighters responded to the incident and upon arriving at the scene, found a Honda Accord’s engine compartment on fire.
Firefighters were able to control the blaze and keep the flames from reaching the passenger compartment.
“After investigation it was determined the fire was caused by the vehicle being struck by lightning … Very rare occurrence,” the fire department said in a social media post.
Holes in the vehicle created by the lightning entering and then leaving the car were readily apparent, as seen in the photos below.
