A man under the influence of alcohol has been accused of trying to run over two Radcliff police officers.

The Radcliff Police Department arrested 38-year-old Webley J. Ludford, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Thursday morning at approximately 2:10 and charged him with DUI (aggravating circumstances), felony wanton endangerment of a police officer, fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), reckless driving, and driving on a suspended operator’s license.

Ludford’s arrest came after officers observed the suspect, driving a 2014 Toyota RAV4, enter the parking lot of a business on North Dixie Boulevard in a reckless manner.

Police made contact with Ludford and told the suspect to park and exit the vehicle. Ludford, though, backed up the SUV and was “attempting to strike officers with his vehicle,” according to a report by The News-Enterprise.

Ludford fled the parking lot in the SUV but pulled over after traveling a short distance. The suspect told officers he had been drinking.

He was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center on a $5,000 cash bond.
