Three people escaped serious injuries after a vehicle rear-ended another vehicle on Owensboro Road (Hwy 54).

Tuesday night at approximately 7:45, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Erik Franklin and Deputies Sean Fentress and Andy Cast, the Leitchfield Fire Department and EMS responded to the crash in the 1800 block of Owensboro Road.

According to police, a Hyundai Sonata, being driven by a woman from Grayson County, turned left (westbound) onto Owensboro Road from Scotty’s Contracting & Stone’s private drive. A westbound Chevrolet Malibu, being driven by a Bowling Green woman, attempted to avoid striking the Sonata, but rear-ended the car, sending both vehicles spinning off the roadway.

There were no brake marks on the road, as the Sonata’s driver told deputies that she sped up as she attempted to go around the Sonata. But instead clipped the vehicle in the rear.

The Hyundai struck and snapped a utility pole in half, while the Chevrolet took out a stop sign and the Lashley Quad Road sign.

Escaping injury were both drivers as well as a passenger in the Sonata.
