First responders arrived en masse to a near fatal overdose at a Bruce Avenue residence that has become known as a hot spot for overdoses.

Wednesday night at approximately 7:10, the Leitchfield Police and Fire Departments and EMS responded to the home when a 37-year-old female stopped breathing after allegedly taking heroin.

She was found by someone at the residence lifeless and alone in a room.

The woman, upon first responders arriving, was “not breathing at all” and had no pulse, according to Leitchfield Fire Chief Tim Duvall. She was administered two doses of Narcan (an opioid overdose reversal agent), which failed to revive her. A third dose, though, brought her back to life.

“Narcan wins again,” Duvall said.

A 34-year-old male overdosed last week at the same residence. According to Duvall, overdoses at the home are a regular occurrence.

“There’s an overdose there practically every week,” Duvall stated.

Duvall said he has not seen the female who overdosed at the residence Wednesday night at the home before. And the male who overdosed last week at the residence was not there Wednesday night: “He’s probably still in the hospital from his overdose last week,” Duvall speculated.

The female was transported by EMS to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center. Her current condition is not known.
