Wilma Dean Shain Carwile, age 92, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Tuesday, (June 27, 2023) at her home.
She was born on December 31, 1930 in Pine Knob, KY, the daughter of the late Leo Larkin and Fronia Woosley Shain.
She was a cook at the Dairy Barn who enjoyed knitting, crocheting, collecting rocks, bells and other items, and spending time with her great-grandchildren. She attended the New Hope Church in Caneyville and was a member of the Veterans Resource Group of Grayson County.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Dewayne Embry (Katrina Miller), Joshua Matthew Embry (Shelby Pollard), Amanda Lin Childress (Patrick); 15 great-grandchildren, Kourtney, Patera, Roger, Cora, Steve, Kayla, Hannah, Jacob, Zachary, Colten, Natalie, Douglas James, John, Joshua & Penny; three great-great-grandchildren, Felicia, Michelle & Jayden; and a sister, Ruth Ann Shain Blair (Joe) of Louisville. A special nephew and caretaker, Zander Blair, and several additional nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delmer Lewis “D.L.” Carwile; two children, Roger Dale Carwile & Linda Russell; and two siblings, Isaac Shain & Mary Helen Hawkins.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, (July 6, 2023) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Burial will be in the Mariah Deweese Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services.
