Kentucky State Police is investigating after a teenager was shot and killed in north central Kentucky.

State police said that on Sunday morning at approximately 1:20, troopers responded to the shooting at 3775 Squiresville Road in Owenton in Owen County. Upon arriving at the residence, police discovered a 16-year-old male had been fatally shot.

The initial investigation showed that 40-year-old Timothy Stone, of Owenton, shot the teen.

Stone was arrested and charged with second-degree manslaughter and lodged in the Carroll County Detention Center.

A person is guilty of manslaughter in the second degree when he wantonly or recklessly causes the death of another person. The charge is a class C felony, punishable by five to 10 years in prison.

The investigation is ongoing.

Last week, a two-year-old boy died in Laurel County after accidentally shooting himself. Two weeks prior to that accidental shooting, a 12-year-old Laurel County boy was killed after being shot in the stomach.
