A Pulaski County woman has been indicted for neglecting her mother who later died.

Abra McDonald, 48, of Somerset, is accused of allowing her mother, 67-year-old Karen McDonald, to lie on the floor of their shared residence for “several weeks.”

Karen McDonald died at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital a day after first responders were dispatched to the home where she was found on the floor.

Abra McDonald was indicted by a Pulaski County Grand Jury for knowingly abusing/neglecting an adult and first-degree wanton endangerment.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office told WKYT.com that Abra McDonald “made no attempts to contact someone to assist her mother in getting up from the floor, despite having cellular phone service and nearby neighbors.” The residence, officials said, had no running water.

Abra McDonald was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
