A Morgantown restaurant has raised over $12,500 for a Butler County family who recently lost a mother and her young son in a car crash in Ohio County.
The Farmboy Restaurant said in a social media post that: “The Farmboy staff and customers were able to raise a total of $12,570 to the Francisco-Gomez family. Thank you to everyone that reached out and helped in any way!”
The wreck occurred on Saturday night, September 2, in the 7000 block of Hwy 231 near Cromwell when a vehicle containing Eulalia Gomez, her nine-year-old son Christian Francisco and six other people crashed into a car. Gomez and her son were killed. A relative of the Francisco-Gomez family remains hospitalized.
“This is one of the sweetest, humble, and respectful families I have ever gotten to know and I wish them peace and healing on this journey that has just begun,” The Farmboy Restaurant said.
In total, six other people were injured in the crash.
“I would like to thank God for everything he has done in my life and for allowing me to be in the position to help others,” The Farmboy Restaurant stated. “I am extremely proud of OUR community for what WE were able to do to help this family in need.”
