Child sex predator convicted in Butler Co., conviction history dates back 30 years

A child sex predator from Butler County has been convicted of sexually abusing a child two years ago.

Adam L. Smith, 52, of Roundhill, was recently convicted in Butler County for first-degree sexual abuse (victim under the age of 12), according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections. He was sentenced to five years in prison. The crime took place in August 2021.

Smith is also listed as a sex offender in Florida, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).

Furthermore, Smith was arrested in Ohio County in March 2022 and charged with first-degree sodomy (victim under the age of 12) and first-degree sexual abuse (victim under the age of 12). It’s unclear if those charges have been adjudicated.

In the early 1990s, according to the FDLE, Smith was convicted in Kentucky for second-degree sodomy and first-degree sexual abuse (victim under the age of 12).

He is currently lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
