The Ohio County sheriff fought with a man for over 10 minutes after receiving a report of a suspicious male.

On Saturday, Ohio County Sheriff Adam Wright responded to the 4100 block of Greenbrier Road after a female resident reported that a man was on her doorstep, claiming to be on LSD.

Upon Wright arriving at the home, the suspect, Joseph Jones, asked the sheriff if he could sit in the back of Wright’s cruiser. Once placed in the vehicle, Wright told WFIE.com that Jones kicked and shattered a window.

The two men then began fighting, with Wright saying they fought for about 12 minutes in the roadway. The sheriff used pepper spray on Jones and tased him six times, but the suspect continued to be combative.

EMS arrived on scene and gave Jones an injection to relax him, but Wright said the suspect became more aggressive.

Jones was then transported to Ohio County Hospital. Wright was treated at the ER for cuts he received from broken glass.

As of early Monday morning, Jones was not listed on the Ohio County Detention Center roster of inmates. Wright said the suspect faces multiple charges.
