An allegedly intoxicated Caneyville man has been found with drugs during a DUI traffic stop.
On Saturday, an Ohio County deputy observed a vehicle traveling south on I-165 as it swerved in and out of traffic and drove at inconsistent speeds, according to Ohio County Sheriff Adam Wright.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, 60-year-old William King Jr., and detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from King.
The suspect was given a field sobriety test and arrested. During a search of the vehicle, police located methamphetamine, a firearm, several empty alcohol containers, and drug paraphernalia, Wright said.
King was charged with DUI (aggravating circumstances), possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), reckless driving, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, and possession of drug paraphernalia among non-moving violations.
He was lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center but is no longer listed as an inmate.
